Generative AI has the potential to reshape the practice of law. Studies indicate that its adoption can save lawyers as much as four hours per week. Time saved can be redeployed to higher-value billable work or towards improving lawyers’ overall well-being. However, these gains will only be realised if AI tools are implemented ethically and effectively. Recognising this, the Singapore Judiciary has issued a Registrar’s Circular setting out expectations on the ethical use of Gen AI in court submissions.
