Can hiring bug bounty hunters help eliminate cyber vulnerabilities?

As the scale of frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks are expected to rise in the next five years, companies worldwide are combatting mounting security risks by engaging bug bounty hunters to identify vulnerabilities in their systems.

Our CEO Michael Lew, who is also chairman of Singapore’s Fintech Association’s cyber risk sub-committee, explains how white hat hackers are participating in bug bounty programmes to help organisations improve their cybersecurity defenses.

“The spirit of bug bounty is that it can be participated by hackers from all walks of life, with varying degrees of skill and expertise. [This is because] even the most skilled hacker sometimes can’t find a bug that a junior hacker is able to.”
